Aesthusion

Aesthusion (Aesthetic + Visual + Fusion) is a wireless, portable, battery-powered wearable device exploring the intersection of art, technology, and neuroscience. It redefines human perception and expression by integrating robotics, virtual reality (VR), and brainwave data analysis, transforming thoughts into multisensory experiences.

Using a VR headset as a telecommunication device, Aesthusion captures brainwave patterns and translates them into a dynamic spectrum of sound and visuals. Inspired by strabismus, auditory-visual synesthesia, and "thinking out loud," it delves into the phenomenology of perception through Gestalt theory, offering a biofeedback snapshot of individual cognition.

Drawing from Optical art, Aesthusion employs algorithms and filters to create captivating visual fluctuations. It challenges conventional notions of art and sensory perception by integrating dissonant colors and textures with varied sound frequencies.

Central to Aesthusion is the "third ear" concept, a metaphor for perceiving tonal sound frequencies beyond the auditory realm. The project poses a profound question: "Can you hear and see my notion and mind?" By offering immersive experiences, Aesthusion aims to inspire non-verbal dialogue, trigger senses, and redefine human interaction.

Rose Ansari (she/her) is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist and creative technologist. She attended Alzahra University of Tehran for her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Currently, she is a Master of Fine Arts student in Art & Technology / Sound Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA.

Rose's current research-based art exploration delves into Cyborg and post-human theories, distortion, and telecommunication through sensory experience in laboratory processes. Fueled by a fascination with unreal fantasy and immersive environments, she is inspired by sci-fi and futuristic concepts, biology, and machines. She integrates technology and cognitive sciences with poetry to unravel the complexities of the human unconscious and emotions. Her projects have been shown nationally and internationally.
