I am a writer. My work explores the way fiction and poetry intersects. I'm interested in writing and living through an ancestral gaze guided by the women of my past. “The Cry of Daughters; Short story” was written for a call for speculative pieces inspired by the art exhibition by Kelly Akashi called Encounters which was a series of clay and glass pieces presented by the Henry Art Gallery in 2023-2024. I took an afrofuturistic approach to the interpretation and created a world where Black people could exist and thrive.
