FILO Girl
Bailey Ambrose

FILO Girl is an animatronic installation depicting the pop-culture phenomenon known as “Lofi Girl”. Her cursive writing displays an intention that conflicts what is expected of modern robotics.

In the late 1700s, clock makers created intricate “Writer-Draftsman” automata. Programmed to write poems and draw pictures, these small dolls were mechanical wonders.

FILO Girl is a modern-day automaton –taking inspiration from the old mechanisms but outfitted with current technology. An intersection between the novel beginning of robotics and the casual entertainment of today, this project is meant to highlight human’s constant fascination with robotics.
